As another perfect day ends with a breathtaking sunset over the Pacific Ocean a beautiful evening begins. Listen carefully and you will hear the cries from our 'friendly' Fijian Warriors, followed by the beating of the Lali Drum as the Torch Lighting Ceremony signals the beginning of Happy Hour at the Frangipani Bar. With many delicious cocktails to choose from and a variety of local and imported Beer and Spirits, you will never be thirsty. Our climate controlled wine room has a wide variety of wines for your enjoyment.

You can enjoy spectacular panoramic views from the Restaurant Deck as you enjoy the freshest of produce and bounty of the sea. Once per week the Traditional Fijian Lovo is served under the stars on our poolside deck. After your meal you will be entertained by the Namaqumaqua Village Meke dancers - be prepared to join in! We also have a regular BBQ buffet which makes for a friendly relaxing evening with an elaborate buffet of delicious local fare. Every evening our Fijian band and singers create a soothing atmosphere while you sit, relax and reflect on another day in paradise.

Basket and Hat Weaving
Basket and hat weaving is an age old art handed down by the Fijians from generation to generation. You can enjoy the art of weaving a hat to keep the Fijian sun at bay or weaving a basket for mum to go fishing or pick vegetables from the garden.

Coconut bowls
Put a unique spin on this time-honoured sport in the manicured lawns of Crusoe's Retreat's tropical gardens.

Fijian Cooking Demonstration  Learn to cook Ika Vakalolo a traditional Fijian delicacy & impress your friends when you get back home!

Glass Bottom Boat
 This daily activity is a great way to explore the beautiful coral formations & tropical underworld of the surrounding reefs - without getting your feet wet! Popular with all ages.

Guided Nature walks
Some of the most unusual flora and fauna in Fiji can be found in and around Crusoe's Retreat. We usually have Nature Walks a couple of mornings each week lead by one of the Activities staff

Handline & Beachfront Fishing  While Handline Fishing is a regular feature on our Daily Activities Board, guests may request to go fishing at any time depending on tides. Beachfront fishing is also available day & night. Many a Trevally & Mahi Mahi have been caught by Guests & Staff alike. BBQ your catch on the beach or throw it in the Lovo Pit Fiji style! Handlines provided.

Mangrove Jungle Cruise  Just a five minute boat ride & you will find yourself in another world. The enchanting Mangroves of the neighbouring Somosomo Bay offer an amazing experience, unlike anything you'd expect to see in Fiji.

Snorkelling
 Magnificent snorkelling can be enjoyed right off the beach. We also have a daily Snorkelling Seafari boat trip each day to one of several spectacular sites. Lots of tropical fish life & plenty of BIG fish too including sharks! Each trip is a unique & amazing experience. We also offer regular snorkelling lessons for those who wish to build their confidence. For those who wish to get the most out of their snorkelling, a PADI Snorkelling Course is also available through Dive Crusoe's.

Village walks
A visit to the Namaqumaqua village on one of our escorted walks is a must. Guests see how the local villagers live in their natural environment, learn about the history of Fiji and life in a communal Fijian village. The ladies of the village also offer for sale some beautiful local shells and artifacts.

CRUSOES RETREAT IS SCUBA DIVERS HEAVEN :
  Crusoe's enjoys, with out a doubt the best diving on the Coral Coast. With a myriad of sea life and spectacular soft corals there is diving to suit all abilities. There is day trips to famous Beqa lagoon, or perhaps to one of the properties secret locations for only Crusoe's guests to enjoy. The Resort has a fully accredited PADI scuba diving operation that is operated by Dive Crusoe's and managed by Dive Master, Mr Don Woods. Dive trips to our reef is only five minutes away and operate according to demand. Over a dozen different dive sites are within a short boat ride from the Resort, and offer dives for the novice to the experienced.

The Namaquamaqua Village
Crusoe's Retreat shares it's border with a Fijian Village called Namaqumaqua Village. The warm and hospitable people of Namaqumaqua Village will feature as an unforgettable and treasured part of your visit to Fiji.

The Village is home to the Staff of Crusoe's Retreat and has a population of 200. There are two clans in the Village with two Chiefs. One of these Chiefs is employed as a groundskeeper at Crusoe's Retreat.You will no doubt hear his laughter somewhere amongst the lush tropical gardens that he keeps so immaculate. He is affectionately known as Big Saki and he has many a tale to tell. Our Duty Manager, Iveri, is also the Mayor of Namaqumaqua Village as well as a table tennis ace who loves a challenge.

As you make friends with the Staff and locals you may find yourself with your own private tour guide. They make take you an adventure through the abundant hills that embrace Crusoe's Retreat. They may teach you the art of luring and catching an octopus - only to invite you for dinner! It is not uncommon for guests to be found sitting around the Kava Bowl in the Community Hall ceremoniously drinking Kava until the morning hours.
