We usually have Nature Walks a couple of mornings each week lead by one of the Activities staff Handline & Beachfront Fishing While Handline Fishing is a regular feature on our Daily Activities Board, guests may request to go fishing at any time depending on tides. Beachfront fishing is also available day & night. Many a Trevally & Mahi Mahi have been caught by Guests & Staff alike. BBQ your catch on the beach or throw it in the Lovo Pit Fiji style! Handlines provided. Mangrove Jungle Cruise Just a five minute boat ride & you will find yourself in another world. The enchanting Mangroves of the neighbouring Somosomo Bay offer an amazing experience, unlike anything you'd expect to see in Fiji. Snorkelling Magnificent snorkelling can be enjoyed right off the beach. We also have a daily Snorkelling Seafari boat trip each day to one of several spectacular sites. Lots of tropical fish life & plenty of BIG fish too including sharks! Each trip is a unique & amazing experience. We also offer regular snorkelling lessons for those who wish to build their confidence. Village walks A visit to the Namaqumaqua village on one of our escorted walks is a must. Guests see how the local villagers live in their natural environment, learn about the history of Fiji and life in a communal Fijian village. There is day trips to famous Beqa lagoon, or perhaps to one of the properties secret locations for only Crusoe's guests to enjoy. The Resort has a fully accredited PADI scuba diving operation that is operated by Dive Crusoe's and managed by Dive Master, Mr Don Woods. Dive trips to our reef is only five minutes away and operate according to demand. The warm and hospitable people of Namaqumaqua Village will feature as an unforgettable and treasured part of your visit to Fiji. The Village is home to the Staff of Crusoe's Retreat and has a population of 200. There are two clans in the Village with two Chiefs. One of these Chiefs is employed as a groundskeeper at Crusoe's Retreat.You will no doubt hear his laughter somewhere amongst the lush tropical gardens that he keeps so immaculate. He is affectionately known as Big Saki and he has many a tale to tell. Our Duty Manager, Iveri, is also the Mayor of Namaqumaqua Village as well as a table tennis ace who loves a challenge. As you make friends with the Staff and locals you may find yourself with your own private tour guide. They make take you an adventure through the abundant hills that embrace Crusoe's Retreat. They may teach you the art of luring and catching an octopus - only to invite you for dinner! It is not uncommon for guests to be found sitting around the Kava Bowl in the Community Hall ceremoniously drinking Kava until the morning hours.
